I'm pathetically slow with my 834 clone, but that's what I am....Sorry for boring you but I treat this threat a bit like a blog on my "progress".I've tried to fight more with PS induced ham and interferenceby putting the PS transformers and HV rectif...

Thanks very much for your prompt, courteous and informative reply! My thought about the crossover design for the EdgarHorn was due to a number of things:1. This particular EdgarHorn is being sold to make way for a Cain & Cain speaker which i...
I have some ZVN0545A mosfets here for exactly that purpose of replacing cathode followers. You may like to try this starting at 2mA (250V supply, 125k biasing resistor).
Brian, and how do you find your MOSFET beha...
Thanks a lot, I've forwarded to him your answers, let's see what he says. I have tried Mundorfs in some critical places in the integrated tube amp I'm using now and they are pretty good, expensive, but not at the level of tho...

I recently spoke with Paul Eizik regarding the criticality of the open-air mounting of that driver instead of baffle-mounting. I decided to go extreme and to get rid of that plate that I had under the driver no mater now small it was, also I thought ...

Anthony,
I feel that 18AWG is a bit too
weak for the filaments. I usually use 12. I do not know if you allow to have
any ventilation around the 6C33C, I did. In my full range amp, I had holes around
the 6C33 panel.

Robert, G10 has no special damping properties that I detected. In fact it is some kind of plastic feeling material. It is “filament glass cloth material with an epoxy resin binder”.

I have no idea why this guy is and what he says, I even have no idea of what language it is but here it is: the 6E5P-6C33C amp in PP configuration.

I have expressed this attitude before and I think it bites me by my tail again. Everyone tells that electrolytic in POS are bad. Well, I kind of follow this thinking as well but up to the point. The true is that I never was able to beat actively ...

Paul, Some good valid points... yes, they've gotten much better over the years, no doubt to technology improvements. A good example is Mallory CGS caps made in the 80's versus new ones. The newer ones are much lighter physically (same p/n), hence th...

Chris,
My frustrations with HF of this amp reminds me the Agatha Christie novels…. however, like anything else it has an end, even a temporarily end….After some experiments and still being dissatisfied with the HF I ended up consulting with D...

Hello, would it be possible for us to see the diagrams and schematics behind the Zarathustra II in the same spirit as the Melquiades was conceived, noting that the best of ideas are formed with the purest of sentiments?
It is Dima’s and my stro...
It's difficult for me to guess exactly what the possible sonic effects of the ripples would be. I see a tube operating at a fixed point, having a particular distortion spectrum. Say -42dB 2nd harmonic. Then, t...

I am taking about coupling capacitor between driver tube and the DHT. There are zillion way to do it and no one said that they need to be used. No one proved yet that a very good quality of caps shell be worse than other methods. In my case since the...

Brain, C’mon, I was kidding about the “Electron Intensification Interface”! There is nothing in this phonocorrector then a correct selection of tubes, thier proper (well almost proper) use and selection of the specific topological decisions that sold...

I reticently picked a new DAC and ADC processors. Not that I needed but they were the brand that I for years was trying to test but never had a chance, now I do. The processors use AES/EBU connectors. So, not I need to find reasonably sounding AES/EB...

Dan
it is a slippery subject and I do not think that anything could be “right” or “wrong” in there. I generally do not “voice” drivers with section of capacitors. However, but it is not mean that I do not see difference between the capacitors ...

Well, I am not a big fan of plasma tweeters.
First, of all they generate a health hazardous gas while they operate. All contemporary plasma drivers have catalytic converters that presumably convert this gas into something neutral. The process of con...
Anyhow, now it is officially: I permanently removed a tweeter from Macondo.
After a few days of playing my Macondo without tweeter I begun to think what is goingon. The S2 eventually works clean and without any hars...
I do continue to wonder if a long path through an electrical storm, from the driver plate to the DHT grid, is perhaps bringing something to the sonic smorgasbord. Is this run anything special in the way of wire or shieldiin...

What’s with audiophiles and their fancy, expensive
capacitors, anyway? You might think I have an answer to that question, since I
recently (a couple of months ago) swapped fancy new V-Caps into the output
positions in my K&K phono stage.

I have found the problem and was able to resolve the noise quandary.
The Lavry ADC has balance analog input and the Sansui has single-ended output. I use my PAD’s Dominus cable with an RCA to XLR adapter. The adaptor was made by BAT and I used it f...
Maybe you can do the same for the bleeder resistors and wiring bundles? That is, once you are sure it is operational. Wires can be like guitar strings.
Hi Thorsten,
Interesting preamp ideas.
The Silvaweld is also using some rather interesting ideas. For
example, the power supply is all tube (ie. rectrifier and regulator)
with a large choke as well for filtering and using a 300b as the hi...
